Soundtrack Sundays: Legend of Ashitaka (Princess Mononoke)

It's Soundtrack Sunday again! The day where I post awesome music to write to or just listen to for pleasure if you're a fellow soundtrack junkie. Earlier this month I had my bestie over this month and we watched a bunch of Studio Ghibli films, including Princess Mononoke. I had seen this film once years ago, but I wanted to rewatch it and my friend wanted to watch it because giant wolves. The film is very unusual, but it is an interesting watch. The soundtrack is just breathtaking though.

This is a very emotional piece with a full orchestra. It's sweeping and full of trumpets. xylophone, clarinet and strings that just make your heart sing. You just want to close your eyes and drink it in. This is a great piece for writing fantasy. It's epic and it's perfect for a quest and traveling through fantastical landscapes. You can listen to more epic music in my Soundtrack Sundays YouTube playlist.

Have you heard this piece before? What do you think of it? Have you seen Princess Mononoke?
